About WorthCheck
WorthCheck helps people understand the real financial impact of major decisions before they spend.
Mission
Sticker prices and monthly payments are incomplete. We built WorthCheck so US consumers can estimate upfront costs, recurring costs, cash-flow room, and pressure points in one place: with transparent methodology.
What WorthCheck does
- Provides an affordability decision tool with scenario-specific inputs
- Explains assumptions and limitations alongside results
- Publishes original guides that support better questions and better inputs
How calculations are designed
Most calculations run in your browser from the numbers you enter. Scenario builders estimate decision costs, then a shared engine estimates remaining monthly cash flow and emergency-savings impact. Pressure labels (Comfortable, Manageable, Tight, High financial pressure) are interpretive heuristics, not credit scores or professional judgments.
How assumptions are selected
We prefer user-entered values over invented live market data. Where consumer guidelines are shown (such as housing percentage heuristics or rent cost-burden framing), they are labeled as guidelines. We do not invent credentials, testimonials, or guaranteed outcomes.

Content review
Guides show a last-reviewed date. Financial examples are illustrative. When external references are used, we prefer authoritative public sources and disclose limitations.
